When we get to the old mining cabins, we can walk clear over the fence surrounding the cluster of buildings, which are mostly visible from just below their eves. A narrow wind path is carved along the side of one log wall and on this bright spring day, standing in the shadow of these neck-high, sculpted layers of snow is like finding an archeological site.
